It’s also important to consider the size of your gate or door stopper, as each mortise model features a different setback distance.
• 5050 Mortise
Recommended for wider uprights, such as 2" x 6" vinyl or other wide materials.
This model provides a greater setback, positioning the handle slightly farther from the gate edge for a balanced look and comfortable use and will work with bigger gate stoppers like 1½" x 1½"
• 3585 Mortise
Designed for narrow uprights up to 2½" wide, the 3585 sits closer to the edge of the gate or door.
Because of this tighter fit, it requires a smaller stopper for proper operation.
Ideal for aluminum gates, modern doors, or vinyl gates built with 2" x 3.5" uprights.
Please note: Vinyl 2" x 6" uprights require a special internal housing to properly support the mortise.
This reinforcement housing is available for purchase on our product page and must be installed inside the upright to ensure secure mounting and long-term performance.

The 5050 mortise has a 50 mm setback, meaning the lock hole sits 50 mm back from the front edge of your door. With a compact 50 mm body depth, it’s a balanced fit for most standard doors. This mortise also includes a built-in deadbolt for added security, making it both simple and reliable.
The 3585 mortise comes with a 35 mm setback, placing the lock hole closer to the edge of the door. Its longer 85 mm body depth provides more room inside for the locking parts. Like the 5050, it also has a deadbolt, giving slimmer or narrower doors strong, secure protection.
